After raucous debate, Assemblymembers approved SB 120 in a 45-20 vote and sent it to the California State Senate for concurrence.

(SACRAMENTO) – Today, the Assembly Committee on Natural Resources approved SB 120, authored by Senator Richard D. Roth, in a 7 to 0 vote. SB 120, which enjoys a broad coalition of supporters including U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, Governor Jerry Brown and Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, enhances protections to California’s deserts by creating a definitive process for the state to assess proposals to export desert groundwater to other regions of the state.

SB 1104 – which will require schools to share human trafficking prevention resources with parents and guardians – received unanimous support from the California State Senate and heads to Governor Jerry Brown’s desk. The legislation is co-authored by Senate President pro Tempore Toni Atkins (D-San Diego), Senate Republican Leader Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel), Senator Nancy Skinner (D-Berkeley) and Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa).

(SACRAMENTO) – Today, military personnel and veterans planning to go to college enjoyed an important victory that will streamline their education opportunities at community colleges. The Assembly Appropriations Committee passed SB 1071, which will require that California Community Colleges implement a uniform policy for awarding course credit to veterans for their prior military education, training and service.
