Statement by Senator Richard D. Roth On the Passing of Tom Hunt

It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Riverside legend, and my dear friend, Tom Hunt. Tom, a product of Riverside public schools, was the very ideal of a tireless community leader and public servant. Tom served with distinction on the RUSD Board of Education for over 15 years, and took the helm as its President during one of the most challenging times for the School District, the COVID-19 pandemic. His calm, experienced and steady hand steered the District through this enormous crisis and into a much brighter future. Tom was a renowned businessman, a top leader in the world of communications, founding and directing Hunt Public Relations. Earlier this month I was honored to help honor Tom, when he received the 2024 Art Pick Distinguished Alumni of the Year by the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce and its Leadership Riverside program. We will not see the likes of Tom Hunt again. Cindy and I send our love and prayers to Tom’s wife Geri and their daughters Whitney and Taylore. Oh how he will be missed!
