Senator Roth Issues Statement on Supreme Court Ruling to Allow Transgender Military Ban

January 22, 2019

(SACRAMENTO) – Today, Senator Richard D. Roth issued the following statement in response to the 5 to 4 ruling by the United States Supreme Court:

“I am disappointed by today’s move by the United States Supreme Court to allow a ban on transgender service members to go into effect. Serving our nation through the military is one of the highest callings an American can answer,” said Senator Richard D. Roth (D-Riverside). “Over the course of my 30-plus years in the United States Air Force, I had the honor and privilege of serving alongside a diverse group of Americans dedicated to serving their country. I believe anyone who is willing to put their lives on the line for our country deserves the opportunity to do so and our unyielding support and respect.”
