City News Group: $1 Million Investment Promises a Playground
For most children, a trip to the neighborhood playground means the freedom to climb, swing, explore and make new friends. But for children living with physical or developmental disabilities, the same playground can present obstacles that make participating alongside other children difficult or even impossible.
Moreno Valley is taking an important step toward changing that experience.
According to an October 28, 2026, announcement from the City of Moreno Valley, the community has secured $1 million in state funding to support inclusive recreational improvement Sabrina Cervantes at Morrison Park, including plans for an adaptive playground designed to accommodate children with a wide range of physical, cognitive and developmental abilities.
The funding was secured through the efforts of California State Senator Sabrina Cervantes, who represents the 31st Senate District, and was formally presented to City officials during a ceremony at Morrison Park.
