Senator Cervantes Secures $1 Million for Jurupa Mountains Discovery Center

(JURUPA VALLEY) -- Senator Sabrina Cervantes (D-Riverside) presented a $1 million check to the Jurupa Area Recreation & Park District (JARPD) for improvements and upgrades at the Jurupa Mountains Discovery Center (JMDC). The funding is part of the 2026-27 state budget process, with Senator Cervantes securing the funds for the 31st Senate District.

“This $1 million investment will help preserve the value that Jurupa Mountains Discovery Center brings to the community for today and for the generations that follow,” said Senator Cervantes. “I am deeply honored to be a part of this exceptional educational center in the 31st Senate District and contribute to its ongoing legacy in the region.”

These funds represent a major investment in JMDC's future. They will support replacing and upgrading security fencing throughout the facility, as well as enhancing safety and security for visitors and staff. In addition, the funds will improve the Center's on-site water system and provide the infrastructure needed for future expansion and long-term development.

“This grant represents a significant investment in the future of the Jurupa Mountains Discovery Center. These improvements will strengthen our ability to provide a safe, secure, and sustainable environment for the thousands of students, families, educators, and visitors who come to JMDC each year. The Jurupa Area Recreation and Park District is grateful to Senator Cervantes for recognizing the importance of preserving and improving this unique regional community and educational resource,” said Colby Diuguid, General Manager at JARPD.
