California State Parks Week
Calling all Californians!
Getting outdoors is the perfect way to re-connect with nature! Did you know June 10-14 is California State Parks Week? Explore our state’s one-of-a-kind parks that preserve and protect California’s natural and cultural history.
The following events are taking place in the Inland Empire District:
Celebrate Indigenous Culture Lake Perris SRA (Lakeside Pavilion, Parking Lot 9)
June 13, 2026, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Learn about and celebrate local Indigenous cultures! Meet representatives of local Tribal communities and participate in activities for families. In addition, the Ya'i Heki' Regional Indian Museum will be open for the day.
Ancestral Citrus: A People’s Journey
Cal Citrus State Historic Park (Museum)
June 13, 2026, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Explore the citrus museum through a self-guided scavenger hunt through time. Gather information and collect stamps as you learn a people’s history of citrus at designated stations.
Humans and Habitats: Guided Habitat Hike
Chino Hills State Park
Parking is available at the Discovery Center Parking Lot, 4500 Carbon Canyon Rd., Brea
June 14, 2026, 8 to 11 a.m.
Connect with the land and learn how humans work together to create a legacy of preservation. Please meet at the Discovery Center for an introduction, then a 1-mile moderate guided hike through chaparral and riparian habitat, and a stop for birdwatching. Binoculars provided; limited supplies.
Pines onto Paper: Sketching
Mt. San Jacinto State Park (Long Valley Ranger Station)
June 14, 2026, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Learn how to capture beautiful mountain scenery on paper! On this relaxed, short, and accessible hike, participants will stop at various scenic points along the Discovery Nature Trail and learn simple techniques for sketching elements of the forest - art supplies will be provided. Note, tram requires ticket purchase.
Water and Watersheds
Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area (Campfire Center)
Parking Available: Nature Center across from the Campfire Center
June 12, 2026, 9 to 10:30 a.m.
A fun Junior Ranger program will explore how water and watersheds in the San Bernardino Mountains support climate resilience in the Inland Empire mountain ranges. All supplies will be provided. Fun for all ages, although the program will be focused on ages 7-12. Minors must be accompanied by an adult for the entire program.

ADVENTURE IS CLOSER THAN YOU THINK!
California Library Passes: What is a CA Library Pass? It’s a FREE day-use vehicle pass available for check out to library-card holders via your local public library. If you don’t have a library card, visit your local library to get one.
California State Park Adventure Pass: Provides free entry for fourth graders (attending a public school, from Sept. 1 to Aug. 31 of that year) and their families at select state parks. Parents/guardians – go to ReserveCalifornia.com or call (800) 444-7275.
Distinguished Veteran Pass: A lifetime pass for California residents who are honorably discharged veterans meeting certain requirements that entitle the passholder to use of all basic facilities (day-use, camping, and boating) in state parks for free.
Golden Bear Pass: Valid for the calendar year and provides free vehicle day-use access to many parks for CalWORKs recipients, SSI recipients, Tribal TANF recipients, and individuals 62 years or older whose income falls under a certain threshold.
Senior Golden Bear Pass: Valid for the calendar year and is for individuals 62 years or older and provides the pass holder and their spouse/domestic partner with free entry to many state parks during non-peak season.
