Be Informed, Get Prepared!

Hello Neighbor,

In light of the devastating Southern California wildfires caused by these dangerous winds and dry conditions, I wanted to ensure you have information about local services and utilities, as well as getting prepared. According to an update from the National Weather Service, winds are expected to increase tonight and return early next week.

Emergency Alerts

Depending on your county, sign up to receive important Emergency Alerts at Alert RivCo or San Bernardino County Emergency Alerts.

Insurance

Conduct an annual Insurance Checkup to know what your policy covers. Use this Home inventory Guide to take inventory of your personal property. Did you know? State law REQUIRES a mandatory one-year moratorium on insurance companies canceling or non-renewing residential insurance policies in certain areas within or adjacent to a fire perimeter after a declared state of emergency.

Power Service

For residents serviced by Southern California Edison (SCE), the Public Safety Power Shutoff Events webpage offers information on how weather conditions of relatively low humidity and strong winds, in combination with dry fuels, can threaten power supply. It also includes a link to the SCE power outage map.

For City of Riverside residents, visit Riverside Public Utilities Public Safety Power Outage Program webpage. You can also visit their Red Flag Warning webpage that contains lots of useful information and offers a way to sign up for alerts.

Preparedness

Ready.gov and Readyforwildfire.org are THE places to go for getting better prepared for disasters. I am also including additional links below:

In closing, I would like to express my gratitude to the more than 8,000 personnel – firefighters, first responders, and the California National Guard service members - battling these catastrophic wildfires.
