Senator Richard D. Roth Honors Fallen Deputy

(SACRAMENTO) – Senator Richard D. Roth (D-Riverside) is proud to honor the sacrifice of fallen Riverside Deputy Sheriff Isaiah Cordero. SCR 16 will rename a specified portion of State Highway Route 60 in the County of Riverside as the Deputy Isaiah A. Cordero Memorial Highway.

Deputy Isaiah Cordero joined the Riverside Sheriff’s Department in 2014 as a correctional deputy. Isaiah graduated from the 204th Basic Academy in 2018 and returned to the department before moving to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station in 2020. In 2022, he completed his lifelong dream of becoming a Motorcycle Enforcement Deputy.

Deputy Cordero’s life and career were tragically cut short during a traffic stop on December 29, 2022.

“When faced with danger on that residential street in Jurupa Valley, he didn’t back away from danger, he moved toward it” said Senator Roth. “He gave his life protecting others.”

The resolution has been introduced to the Senate as SCR 16.
