Newsom’s budget boosts UC Riverside medical school funding

UC Riverside’s medical school would get another $25 million a year to boost enrollment and tackle the Inland Empire’s chronic doctor shortage in Gov. Gavin Newsom’s budget proposal unveiled Friday, Jan. 10.

The fiscal 2020-21 spending plan would boost ongoing School of Medicine funding from $15 million annually to $40 million a year, according to the office of state Sen. Richard Roth, D-Riverside.
