Senator Roth Responds to Governor Gavin Newsom’s 2019 State of the State Address
Senator Richard D. Roth (D-Riverside) issued the following statement today in response to Governor Gavin Newsom’s first State of the State address:
“I applaud Governor Newsom on a remarkable State of the State address. Our 40th Governor continues to lead California through progressive initiatives and bold action. Certainly, this morning’s speech was a celebration of our potential and an important reminder of the challenges that lay ahead of us; including addressing the substantial needs of California’s education system, the homelessness crisis, and our aging population.
“Governor Newsom is an emphatic advocate for our state. A successful partnership between the legislative leadership and the Governor will guarantee that we reach the goals he has drawn out for us. I greatly look forward to tackling the good work ahead of us all and fighting to make sure Inland Southern California receives what it truly needs and rightly deserves.”

The 31st State Senate District includes portions of Riverside County including the communities of Riverside, Moreno Valley, March Air Reserve Base, Perris, Corona, Norco, Eastvale and Jurupa Valley.
