Senator Roth Responds to Governor Jerry Brown’s State of Emergency Declaration

July 26, 2018

Senator Richard D. Roth (D-Riverside) issued the following statement today in response to Governor Jerry Brown’s State of Emergency Declaration for Riverside County:

“This fast-moving wildfire, the Cranston Fire, has already scorched thousands of acres, forced hundreds of people to flee from their homes and has burned several homes. Its devastation is immense. Governor Brown’s declaration not only recognizes the horrific impact of this wildfire, but also calls necessary attention to evacuation orders.

“It is of the utmost importance that residents remain aware of any and all evacuation orders. If ordered to leave, do not delay; do not put your life or the life of a first responder at risk. While authorities have arrested a suspect they believe to be the arsonist behind this ferocious blaze, we must remain vigilant. Neighbors must help neighbors. And we all owe a debt of gratitude to our brave firefighters who continue to battle this raging wildfire as our region is pounded by triple digit heat.”
