California Aerospace & Aviation Days Lift Off with the Help of Senator Roth

March 14, 2018

(SACRAMENTO) – Today, Senator Richard D. Roth (D-Riverside) braved the rain alongside several other aviation enthusiasts and enjoyed the start of California Aerospace & Aviation Days.

“Though I rarely get the opportunity nowadays, I love to spend my free time up in the air flying,” said Senator Richard D. Roth (D-Riverside). “The open, peaceful nature of our beautiful skies captured my fascination from a very young age and led me into three decades of service in the Air Force.”

Aviation is vital to California, contributing $168.7 billion annually to the state economy while also supplying 1.2 million jobs. More than 200,000 people are employed by the aerospace industry, which provides over $2.9 billion in annual state income tax revenues. California Aerospace & Aviation Days create an important nexus between the public and these thriving industries.

Senator Roth continued: “I’m happy to take part in an event that helps to inspire, influence, and mold the next generation of aerospace scientists, engineers, and pilots by teaching them that the sky isn’t the limit, it’s a field waiting to be explored.”
