Senator Roth to Host Free “Pathways to Higher Education” Conference in Riverside

Free event will give students and parents in-depth look at what it takes to be college and career ready

Senator Richard D. Roth (D-Riverside) will host a FREE “Pathways to Higher Education” conference in conjunction with the Riverside Unified School District on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at John W. North High School in Riverside.

RUSD Chief Academic Officer Lynn Carmen-Day, RUSD Board Vice President Tom Hunt, UC Riverside Executive Vice Chancellor Paul D’Anieri and a panel of former RUSD students will join Senator Roth to provide students and families an in-depth look at what it takes to be “College and Career Ready.”

“Providing our students with the right resources to succeed academically and shape their careers is absolutely critical to their future, our local economy and frankly is the right thing to do,” said Senator Roth.  “I’m proud to host this important event so our students can succeed and be truly competitive in the 21st century’s global economy.” 

The Conference, presented by Senator Roth in conjunction with UC Riverside, CSU San Bernardino, Riverside City College and Completion Counts, will provide students and families a wide range of information including advice on which courses to take to meet A-G requirements, writing a successful college entrance essay, securing financial support and more.  AB 540, the California Dream Act, and guarantee programs at Riverside Community College and Cal State University San Bernardino will also be discussed.
