Senator Roth Chosen by American Veterans of California as 2014 Legislator of the Year

February 25, 2015

Senator Richard D. Roth (D-Riverside) has been chosen by the American Veterans Department of California (California AMVETS), an organization that serves California’s military veterans, as their 2014 Legislator of the Year for his continued commitment to fighting for veterans throughout the State.

“I am truly honored to be recognized as California AMVETS’ 2014 Legislator of the Year,” said Senator Roth.  “As an Air Force veteran, I know firsthand the unique challenges our veterans face, especially when they transition to civilian life.

“Our veterans must have access to the resources they need to find good-paying jobs.  The need for jobs for veterans is as important as ever and continues to be one of my top priorities,” Senator Roth continued.  “I am honored to share AMVETS’ commitment to fighting for those who have fought for our country, and am truly humbled to receive this award.”

Senator Roth, who served for 32 years in the United States Air Force and retired in the grade of major general, was chosen for the award after a careful and thorough review by California AMVETS, whose mission is to protect the earned benefits of American Veterans and improve their quality of life.
