HEATWAVE WARNING:

As our region faces another heatwave beginning this weekend, please take precautions to take care of yourself and your loved ones. Exposure to intense heat can be extremely dangerous.

Weather forecasters are reporting this weekend could bring a record-level heatwave throughout Southern California with temperatures over 110 degrees across our region, with the weather service issuing an excessive heat warning.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

  • Drink plenty of water and pay close attention to children and pets
  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine - these drinks may dehydrate you
  • If possible, avoid outdoor activity during the hottest time of the day
  • Slow down - rest in the shade or a cool place when possible
  • Know the signs and symptoms of heat-related illness
  • Check on neighbors and the elderly
  • Never, ever leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle
  • Wear light weight, loose fitting clothing
  • Take a cool shower or bath.
  • If you do not have an air conditioner, use a fan and make sure windows are open - visit a cooling center as much as you can.
  • When it is hotter than 90° visit a friend that has air conditioning in their home or cool places like a mall, library or senior center.
