Dear Friend,
To celebrate contemporary California art, the California State Senate created the Contemporary Art Collection Program in 1997. Every other year, Senators are asked to select an artist who they feel best represents their district to include in the Collection. This year, I have been asked to select an artist and piece from our district for inclusion in the exhibit.
Selected works will be displayed behind the Senate Chamber.
Will you or an artist you know be willing to submit an original art piece so the Capitol can see the amazing talent our region has to offer?
Guidelines:
Any type of original art is acceptable including oil paintings, works on paper, weavings, wall hangings and/or sculptures. There is a size limit of 3' x 5'.
The selected artist must agree to loan their art to the exhibit for approximately 18 months, from May 2015 – September 2016. Shipping costs, with the exception of packing costs, to and from the exhibit will be paid.
A photograph of the piece is sufficient for the selection process. Please do not forward original artwork.
Art submissions can be transmitted via email or regular mail to my District office address below:
Office of Senator Richard D. Roth
Attention: Elizabeth Balistreri

All submissions should include the artist's name, biography, address, telephone number, email and information on the artwork submitted.
The deadline to submit is 11:59pm, Friday, May 1, 2015. The final selection will be made on Friday, May 8, 2015.
Thank you and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to call or email me. Good luck!
Respectfully,
Richard D. Roth
