Dear Friends,
This week, 50 students began their orientation as part of the inaugural class of the University of Riverside School of Medicine. These new students will be the first to receive all of their medical training at the new UCR School of Medicine. This is a very significant step forward to address Inland Southern California's critical doctor shortage.
Later today, I will be attending a very special ceremony for the new medical students where they take the UCR Medical School student oath. At the ceremony, they will be presented with their doctor's white coats and their medical training will begin in earnest.
For our community, these new medical students will be the first of many to receive all of their medical training in Riverside. They will gain practical medical experience working with community clinic partners and they will be providing critical services to residents of Inland Southern California.
I am tremendously proud and look forward to what the future has in store for these aspiring medical professionals.
It is always an honor to serve you.
Respectfully,
RICHARD D. ROTH
