Dear Friends,

As we join family and friends in celebrating the birth of our nation, it is important to bear in mind the immeasurable sacrifices made by countless Americans to keep our community and nation truly free.

Sacrifices like that of Riverside Police Officer Ryan Bonaminio, who was slain in the line of duty in 2010. I had the honor to attend the opening of the Ryan Bonaminio Memorial Park in Riverside, CA on Saturday, June 29. Officer Bonaminio, like countless others, dedicated and gave his life to protect our families and community. For that, we are truly thankful.

Independence Day is about more than just barbecues, fireworks and tailgates. It's about honoring the unique role the United States has played in ensuring liberty as a fundamental right of all - not the privilege of a few.

I wish you and your family a Happy Fourth of July. As always, it is an honor to serve you.
