September 21, 2015

Free event gives students and parents in-depth look at what it takes to be college and career ready

Senator Richard D. Roth (D-Riverside) announced today that he will be hosting a FREE “Pathways to Higher Education” conference in conjunction with the Jurupa Unified School District on Saturday, September 26, 2015.

“Providing our students with the resources to succeed academically and shape their careers is absolutely critical to their future, our local economy and is frankly the right thing to do,” said Senator Roth.  “I’m proud to bring this important event to Jurupa Valley so our students can succeed and be truly competitive in the 21st century’s global economy.”

The Jurupa Unified School District, University of California, Riverside, California State University, San Bernardino and Riverside City College will join Senator Roth, Congressmember Mark Takano (D-Riverside) as well as the California Student Aid Commission to provide students and families an in-depth look at what it takes to be “College and Career Ready.”

The Conference will provide students and families a wide range of information including advice on which courses to take to meet A-G requirements, writing a successful college entrance essay, securing financial support and more.  High schools will also present important information on Career Technical Education (CTE) to help families make informed choices as students enter high school.
