Roth introduces bill to help new cities
The senator calls it “an issue of fairness and equity.”

The California legislature’s 2013-2014 session ended Nov. 30 and, with it, any hope of an override of Gov. Jerry Brown’s veto of a bill that would have restored vehicle license fee revenue to Eastvale, Jurupa Valley, Menifee and Wildomar.
But state Sen. Richard Roth, D-Riverside, introduced Senate Bill 25 on Dec. 1 -- the first day of the 2015-2016 legislative session -- which would restore state funding which the four recently incorporated Riverside County cities lost in 2011 during California’s fiscal crisis.
“Restoring VLF money to our cities continues to be one of my top priorities,” Roth said in a news release.
Roth spokesman Shrujal Joseph said in an email that every legislative session is different with respect to the state budget and the governor’s priorities.
“So as we go into the 2015-16 session, there are a number of factors that could make this effort a successful one,” Joseph said.
