California State Senator Richard Roth Statement on the death of Singer Jenni Rivera

California State Senator Richard Roth issued the following Statement today on the death of Singer Jenni Rivera:

“I was saddened to learn yesterday of the loss of an incredible mother, star, role-model, and a very proud former resident of Norco, Ms. Jenni Rivera.

“Ms. Rivera – or Jenni as she is known throughout the world, is truly a global star in the music world. She will be remembered for her incredible talent as the most successful banda singer, who sang of the challenges of living in two worlds as the daughter of Mexican immigrants in the United States.

“Ms. Rivera continued to consider herself to be a resident of Corona even though she had been living most recently in the San Fernando Valley. Jenni had lived with her family in a home in Norco for a number of years, the same house featured in her television reality show “I Love Jenni.” 

“Ms. Rivera was a role model to many women and men and she was a powerful voice singing and speaking against domestic violence. Jenni had a broad fan base selling more than 4 million records in the United States and some 15 million albums around the world. Jenni was by far the top-grossing female artist in Mexico.

“Today, I join Jenni Rivera’s many fans throughout the Inland Empire and around the world to remember her contributions to music and to the lives of so many people. We send our thoughts and prayers to her family and friends. We will always be grateful for her voice, her music and her activism.”

Senador Estatal Richard Roth dio este comunicado hoy al escuchar de la muerte de la Cantante Jenni Rivera:

“Estoy entristecido al aprender ayer de la perdida de una increíble madre, artista, modelo a seguir y orgullosa ex residente de Norco, Jenni Rivera.

“Jenni Rivera, o Jenni, como era conocida a lo largo del mundo, era una verdadera estrella global en el mundo de la música. Sera recordada por su increíble talento al ser la cantante de música Banda más exitosa. Jenni Rivera canto sobre los desafíos de vivir en dos mundos como la hija de inmigrantes Mexicanos en los Estados Unidos.

“Jenni Rivera se consideraba residente de Corona a pesar de haber establecido residencia recientemente en el Valle de San Fernando. Jenni vivia con su familia en Norco por varios años, en la misma casa presentada en el show “I Love Jenni”.

“Jenni Rivera era un modelo a seguir para mujeres y hombres, y era una voz ponderosa cantando y luchando en contra de la violencia doméstica. Jenni tenía una gran base de fans vendiendo más de 4 millones de álbumes en los Estados Unidos y 15 millones alrededor del mundo. Jenni fue la artista femenina más exitosa en Mexico.
